APX Edge / About

///////////////////////

APX Edge develops skating the right way. Efficiency, control, and sustainable speed built to hold up at game pace.

You Cannot Be the Best Hockey Player Without Being the Best Skater First

WHAT IS APX EDGE

Speed Means Nothing Without Control

APX Edge exists to teach players how to move efficiently and sustainably. Not just faster, but faster in a way that holds up shift after shift, under pressure, at game speed.

Most skaters are taught to work harder. We teach them to move better. The difference is everything. A skater who wastes motion burns out and gets beaten to pucks late in a shift. A skater who is efficient generates more power with less effort and still has it in the third period. That efficiency is the foundation of every elite skater, and it is what APX Edge is built to develop.

We pair speed with control. We build skating that lasts.

AN EDGE NO OTHER HOCKEY PROGRAM HAS

Taught by a Two-Time U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist

///////////////////////

Here is something most hockey programs cannot offer. APX Edge is led by a two-time U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist.

If that sounds unexpected for a hockey program, consider this. Figure skaters have the most refined edge control, balance, and movement efficiency of any skaters on the planet. Every ounce of their training is built around using their edges perfectly, generating power cleanly, and wasting no motion. That is exactly what separates a good hockey skater from a great one.

APX Edge takes that world-class skating foundation and applies it directly to the demands of hockey. Explosive starts. Tight turns. Escapes in traffic. Change of pace. Your athlete gets access to a level of skating instruction that almost no hockey player in the country is receiving.

This is not a novelty. It is an unfair advantage.

SAdie Gibbs

Director of Skating Development

Sadie Gibbs leads APX Edge as Director of Skating Development. She is a U.S. Figure Skating double gold medalist, having passed both Senior Moves in the Field and Senior Free Skate with honors, two of the highest testing standards in the sport.

Sadie's competitive career runs deep. She competed at the Upper Great Lakes Regional level from Juvenile through Junior, earned a Junior Woman regional medal, took a Minnesota State silver medal, and qualified for Midwestern Sectionals as a Junior Woman. Today she performs professionally with Holiday On Ice, touring Europe as an ensemble skater in the company's productions.

Her coaching experience spans every level of skater. She has taught learn-to-skate hockey and figure skaters, led group instruction and one-on-one development, and worked hands-on with everyone from first-time skaters to competitive athletes. She also works as a skate technician, giving her a rare technical understanding of boots, blades, and how equipment affects a skater's mechanics.

What makes Sadie invaluable to hockey players is exactly what makes her different from a typical hockey skating coach. She brings the edge control, balance, and movement efficiency of a world-class figure skater and applies it directly to the demands of the game. Your athlete is learning skating from someone who has mastered it at the highest level.

APX Edge sessions are kept intentionally small, just 6 to 10 skaters per session. This is not a program where players get lost in a crowd of thirty and skate through drills without feedback. Small groups mean Sadie can work on individual touches, critique technique in real time, and give every skater the detailed, personal coaching that actually changes how they move. More reps. More attention. More development per session.

Small Groups. More Touches. Real Coaching.

BUILT FOR EVERY SKATER

Four Levels. One Standard.

APX Edge is built around four levels of development: Build, Develop, Utilize, and Elite. Each one builds on the last, moving a skater from foundational mechanics all the way to game-speed application.

Here is the important part. You do not have to start at the beginning. We assess every skater and place them where they belong. Whether your athlete is learning to control their edges for the first time or refining explosive game-speed movement, there is a level built for exactly where they are right now.
