Four Levels.
One Standard.
///////////////////////
From foundational edge work to explosive game-speed movement, APX Edge is built to develop every skater from wherever they are today.
START WHERE YOU BELONG
You Do Not Have to Start at the Beginning
Every skater is different, and no two athletes are at the same place in their development. That is why APX Edge is built around four levels rather than a single track.
We assess where your athlete is and place them where they belong. A first-year skater and a seasoned player chasing explosive game-speed movement need completely different things, and both will find the right fit here. Wherever your athlete starts, the goal is the same. Build efficient, controlled, sustainable skating that translates directly to the game.
APX EDGE Development LEVELS
APX EDGE | LEVELS
-
The Foundation Every Great Skater Stands On
Build establishes the essential building blocks of skating. This is where skaters develop proper body and edge awareness, balance, a strong forward stride, and clean stop-and-go movement.Every advanced skating skill traces back to these fundamentals. A skater who learns to control their edges and hold their balance while gliding is building the platform that everything else gets stacked on. Get this right, and every level above it comes faster.
What we focus on:
Proper body and edge awareness
Balance and body control
Forward stride mechanics
Stop-and-go movement
In practice: A skater learns to hold balance while gliding and to transition smoothly from a standstill into skating, setting the stage for more dynamic movement.
-
Turning Fundamentals Into Real Power
Develop builds on the posture, balance, and edge awareness from Build and turns them into efficient, powerful movement. This is where skaters master their inside and outside edges and learn to generate sustainable power in every stride. The focus shifts from simply moving correctly to moving powerfully without wasting energy. Skaters learn to accelerate forward and backward, hold taut edges through turns, and control their body positioning and weight distribution. This is the level where efficient mechanics start producing real speed.
What we focus on:
Mastery of inside and outside edges
Power stride development
Sustainable acceleration, forward and backward
Taut edges and controlled turns
Body positioning and weight distribution
In practice: A skater who learned to balance and glide in Build now creates sustainable power with their edges for faster acceleration and sharper turns.
-
Where Efficiency Becomes Speed
Utilize takes the efficient mechanics, edge quality, and acceleration built in Develop and translates them into real speed and agility. This is where technical skill becomes a weapon.Skaters learn to eliminate wasted movement to maximize power, developing explosiveness, overspeed mechanics, and efficient transitions. The edge work becomes sharper and more precise, built for the quick, reactive movements that show up constantly in game situations.
What we focus on:
Explosiveness and first-step quickness
Overspeed mechanics
Taut, precise edge work
Efficient transitions
Power generation at speed
In practice: A skater uses taut edge control to execute quick escape turns and explosive starts, the exact movements that separate players in high-level game situations.
-
Game Speed. Game Pressure. Total Control.
Elite is where every skill comes together. Building on the advanced edge work and power generation from Utilize, this level applies everything in game-like scenarios where control and power are tested under pressure.Skaters work on edge pressure, crossover acceleration, change of pace, and skating in tight spaces at game speed. Video feedback becomes part of the process here, helping fine-tune performance and lock in the details that make the difference at the highest level.
What we focus on:
Edge pressure and control under load
Crossover acceleration
Change of pace
Tight-space skating at game speed
Video feedback and performance refinement
In practice: A skater combines explosive acceleration, tight turns, and edge pressure to navigate small spaces at game speed, becoming genuinely dangerous in competitive play.
