APX News / NEW HIRE! JaCK SKILLE
APX Hockey is thrilled to announce the hiring of Jack Skille to the team as a Senior Advisor for the Rocky Mountain region.
Skille, a former-NHLer, brings extensive experience to the APX Advising program. A native of Wisconsin, Skille played for the National Team Development Program as a young skater before being selected in the first round, seventh overall, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2005 NHL Draft. The forward went on to compete collegiately at Wisconsin, winning the 2006 national title, before eventually joining the ranks of pro hockey in the NHL, AHL and overseas.

“He’s got a lot of integrity and he’s got a great passion for the game. He’s not in a traditional hockey market but the way he treats his kids, it’s the same type of value that he would bring to an NHL client,” said APX Director of Advising Sean Erickson about the hire. “He has a vision of where these kids could be and wants to be able to provide expectations, he’s firm and fair with the way he handles everything.”
Skille, who now resides in Utah, logged over 350 NHL games during his time with Chicago, Florida, Columbus, Colorado and Vancouver. Since retiring from his playing career, Skille has been coaching and helping out in his local hockey scene in the Salt Lake City area and was recently named the Assistant Coach and Director of Skill Development for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL.
“After discussing things with APX over time, I learned that they have developed a model that they use with their athletes that is suitable to me and is similar to the model I have been using already in Utah,” said Skille about his new position. “The video aspect and the teaching is a huge asset to players and it’s something I’ve been doing over the past two or three years with the players here locally in the Salt Lake area.”
The 38-year-old former NHL forward has a large network of contacts and connections that will make his services as an advisor stand out.
“I’m more excited than anything about the development that these athletes are going to get, not only with me but with the other advisors, based on the expectations that APX has built for their advising staff,” he added. “For me, it’s always about development, it’s not just about phone calls and connections, that’s just a part of it. If we can serve these athletes and help them become better hockey players, and most importantly better human beings, through the mentorship part of this program then we’ve hit a home run.”
Currently, Skille lives in Park City, located just outside of Salt Lake City, with his wife and their son.
