APX News / NEW HIRE! GABE GAUTHIER
APX Hockey is excited to announce the hiring of Gabe Gauthier to the team as a Senior Advisor for the West Region.
A native of Southern California, the 41-year-old played college hockey at the University of Denver from 2002-2006. While skating with the Pioneers, Gauthier won back-to-back national titles - which included him scoring the lone goal in Denver’s 1-0 championship victory over Maine in 2004. He also served as captain of the team during his senior season.

“Gabe brings a tremendous hockey background and a proven winning pedigree,” said APX Director of Advising Sean Erickson about the hire. “His experience working with high school athletes to prepare them for the transition to college is a huge asset to APX. In addition, his deep knowledge of the recruiting process provides another layer of support for our athletes and families.”
Gauthier brings lots of wisdom to the APX Advising Team as someone who grew up in a non-traditional hockey market and eventually made it to the NHL. The former forward had a multi-year career in professional hockey, which included suiting up for the Los Angeles Kings for a handful of games before also competing in the AHL, ECHL, CHL and in Germany.
After the conclusion of his playing career, Gauthier worked in many western hockey markets including Las Vegas, Colorado, Arizona and now in Utah. The Torrance, California, native already knows current APX Advisor Jack Skille, who also lives in Utah, and together the two have been attempting to grow the game and to educate families and athletes in the area about the opportunities for higher-level hockey.
“Gabe’s vision and transparency align perfectly with the APX culture, ensuring that every client he works with receives nothing but the best,” added Erickson.
“We’re all on the same page to try and help hockey families,” said Gauthier about his new position. “APX aligns with everything I’ve been doing and that is doing things the right way by former players and coaches who have gone through these situations - we’re not just some ‘Joe’s’ off the street. We’re here to help advance kids and educate families in the process.”
Currently, Gauthier lives with his family in St. George, Utah, which is located next to the borders of both Arizona and Nevada.
