APX News / PROMOTION

APX Hockey is thrilled to announce that long-time staff member Kyle Osterberg has been promoted to the full-time position of Director of Player Development for the 13s/14s/15s Tier.

Osterberg joined the program many years ago as just a young hockey player and stuck with it all throughout his collegiate and professional playing career, eventually becoming a mentor to many young athletes and a member of our coaching staff. The Lakeville native played high school hockey at Lakeville South before joining the National Team Development Program. After that, the forward competed in Omaha of the USHL for one season before suiting up for the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he spent four years at the Division I level.

“Kyle’s been with us since he’s been in youth hockey, and he’s never left. His work ethic, love for the game, and willingness to continually push to get better will be evident in his job,” said APX Hockey General Manager Erik Rasmussen about the addition.

“I was here from day one, so I’ve seen what it first was way back in the day, and I’ve been through it all as a player,” said Osterberg. “When I was in college at the University of Minnesota Duluth I started to be an instructor on the ice and became part-time staff (at APX) while still trying to workout and skate here as a college athlete - then I transitioned over into my professional playing career while still doing workouts and skating here with the pro group,  as well as coaching and mentoring the kids.”

As a professional hockey player, the 30-year-old spent time in many different leagues in multiple countries like Norway, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom. He has extensive knowledge of the game that will be invaluable to the APX team.

As the new Director of Player Development for the 13s/14s/15s Tiers, Osterberg will be doing plenty of on and off-ice training and development with APX athletes, along with taking on a portion of administrative work and spearheading communication with skaters of this age group and their families. Osterberg will be having plenty of tactical and realistic discussions with these highly motivated individuals about where these players are at in their current hockey journey, figuring out what their goals are, and how they can achieve those goals while becoming the best player and person that they can be both on and off the ice.
