As a senior for the Orioles in 1995, he was the chosen recipient of the illustrious Mr. Hockey Award as the most outstanding hockey player in the state of Minnesota. After graduating, Erik was selected in the 1st Round of the 1996 NHL Draft (7th pick overall), by the Buffalo Sabres. He then moved on to the University of Minnesota for 2 years (1995-97) before opting to sign his first professional contract with Buffalo. He would embark on a strong NHL career that spanned 9 seasons between the Buffalo Sabres, Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils. Through an amazing journey as a player, Erik has acquired a vast amount of knowledge about the game and player development.
