From The Gobbler in Bloomington to the Tonka Thanksgiving Preview, here are our top five picks for the best youth and high school hockey tournaments happening over the long holiday weekend, along with a list of all of the other tournaments happening throughout the state as well.

TONKA THANKSGIVING PREVIEW

Level: Boys High School

Dates: Nov. 28-29

Location: Pagel Ice Arena, Minnetonka

Teams Involved (6): No. 9AA Rosemount, Chanhassen, No. 5AA Minnetonka, Andover, No. 3AA Rogers, No. 10AA Shakopee

Description: Wow, that’s a lot of top-10 teams! You can expect some top competition at this showcase and you can go cheer on a few of our top APX athletes as well from Rosemount, Chanhassen and Shakopee. The 5th Annual Tonka Thanksgiving Preview certainly won’t disappoint and fans of boys high school hockey in Minnesota will get a more accurate idea of these six squads after seeing how they fair at Pagel this weekend.

The Gobbler

Level: Bantam B1 and PeeWee B1

Dates: Nov. 26, (Thanksgiving Off), Nov. 28-30

Location: Bloomington Ice Garden

Where to Stream: Championship games being broadcast live on Youth Hockey Hub’s YouTube channel.

Description: Prior Lake won the Bantam level in 2024 while White Bear Lake won the PeeWee level, who will come out on top this time? Some of the top teams from the metro area, including squads who are ranked high in YHH’s NOW Rankings, will be participating in the event, so it is sure to be an entertaining and competitive weekend.

First test of the best

Level: Bantam AA, PeeWee AA

Dates: Nov. 28-30

Location: Eden Prairie Community Center

Description: 12 teams each at the Bantam AA and PeeWee AA levels will be competing this weekend to find out early on in the season how they match up against some of the top competition in the state. You can check out top PeeWee teams such as Minnetonka, Chaska/Chanhassen, Centennial, Cottage Grove and Moorhead and some of the top Bantam squads like Prior Lake and Eden Praire.

Tradition cake eater classic

Level: 10U A/B1/B2, 12U A/B1/B2, 15U A/B

Dates: Nov. 28-30

Location: Braemar Arena, Edina

Description: It’s the 21st Annual Tradition Cake Eater Classic in Edina, which means there will be a whole lot of girls hockey happening at Braemar Arena this weekend. This is a huge tournament for levels from 10U up to 15U and for both A and B teams, so if you want to got a better idea of what girls youth hockey will look like this season then you can get a preview of many of the top rosters this weekend in Edina.

Minneapolis Cup

Level: Bantam B1/B2/C, PeeWee B1/B2/C, Squirt B1/B2/C

Dates: Nov. 28-30

Location: Parade Ice Arena (Minneapolis), Richfield Ice Arena

Description: A whopping 72 teams will be in Minneapolis and Richfield this weekend for the 51st Minneapolis Cup. If you want to watch a lot of hockey at a lot of different levels, then this is the tournament for you.
